I've been very busy working on new paintings after a hugely enjoyable and inspirational trip to West Cornwall this spring, and very eager to return there!
It was great to have been able to show them at Saltaire Arts Festival at the end of May, which was great fun.
All my work is on permanent show at 19 Castle Hill, Richmond. Yorkshire.
A big thank you to Mary Fishburn for inviting me to display a selection of my work in her exhibition 'Contour Lines', now showing at The Station, Richmond until March 4th.
Paintings, large canvases, mixed media, beautifully framed drawings and handmade prints, plus my ceramic work are on display in The Mezzanine Gallery.
Mary recently had a successful exhibition 'Contours' at The Witham, Barnard Castle, and has now brought her extensive body of work to The Station.
Mary is fascinated by the world that surrounds her, and draws inspiration from the diverse Yorkshire landscape, including Richmond, and especially the stunning view of the town from Westfields, using a variety of mediums to describe the differing moods during the day/season.
The detail within nature interests her.. water and rock strata.. and the ever changing colours, line and textures that these sources provide.
She has even recorded, as a series of pencil studies, the contours of the land from the air!
There is definatly a feeling of change in the air, after the beautiful sunshine summer, I almost don't even mind that much, as September brings new thoughts and ideas, blackberries and dew and even a very slight tinge to the trees over in the woods.
With every end , theres a new beginning to be embraced. Thats going to be my approach to Autumn this year :)
