Damside Mill

Haworth

Im afraid we do not have parking for Damside visitors, we respectively ask if you can find roadside parking nearby.

The car park directly in front of our building is private for the residents of Lees Mill only, and therefore is strictly NOT for our use.

Each space is allocated to a specific flat and although it may appear empty, the residents need to be sure on their return home that they will be able to park their vehicle.

Thank you for your understanding.

Please note, we are sorry to say we have no disabled access due to the nature of the building.

The Gallery is on the second floor, up a steep flight of steps.

The textile industry dominated West Yorkshire from the Industrial Revolution until the beginning of the 20th Century, at one time there were 24 mills in Haworth alone.

Originally there was a mill pond directly outside this building which was used for washing the fleeces. We are led to believe Damside started life as an extension to neighbouring Lees Mill. We also understand it was later used as a fire house for the surrounding mills, the fire truck was kept here. In more recent years it has been used as a framers and wood workshop. Damside Mill is now our home, our studios and workspace. We are very excited to have opened our new gallery here. It’s a privilege to be living, working and maintaining this historic building.

We are planning to have two, possibly three exhibitions a year at Damside, though we will be open by appointment at other times, so please get in touch if you’d like to visit.
